Seyyed Mohammad Reza Hashemi, Governor of Iran’s South Khorasan Province, says $1.85 billion worth of goods has been exported through the Abu Nasr Farahi Port in Afghanistan’s western Farah province over the past year.
Hashemi made the remarks during his visit to Farah province, where he headed a delegation and met with Mohammad Hafiz Mujahid, Governor of Farah. The meeting was also attended by Alireza Marhamati, Iran’s Consul General in Herat, and several officials from Farah and South Khorasan.
According to Bakhtar News Agency, Hashemi also told the agency that Afghanistan’s imports from Iran have increased by 80 percent since the outbreak of the war in Iran.
The completion of 64 kilometers of the road to the Abu Nasr Farahi Port was another key issue discussed during the meeting. The Iranian side pledged to complete the remaining work on the road before the onset of winter this year.
The officials also discussed cooperation in areas including agriculture, industry, and education.
