The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Herat says it has donated medical supply packages containing 14 types of medicines to the public health authorities in Herat, Ghor and Badghis provinces.

According to ICRC officials, the supplies are intended to strengthen health facilities’ capacity to respond to patients with acute watery diarrhea. They will be distributed to health centers across the three provinces.

The packages include intravenous fluids, oral medicines and injectable drugs.

The assistance comes as the number of seasonal illnesses, particularly among children, has increased across western Afghanistan with the rise in temperatures.
