Officials in Afghanistan’s western Herat province say efforts are underway to organize a joint Afghanistan-Turkmenistan trade exhibition in the border area of Torghundi.
According to a statement issued by the Herat provincial governor’s office, the proposal was discussed during a meeting among Baganj Abdullayev, head of the TAPI project in Afghanistan; the deputy consul of Turkmenistan in Herat; and Herat Governor Noor Ahmad Islam Jar.
The meeting also focused on the latest progress in implementing the TAPI gas pipeline project in Afghanistan.
During the talks, Governor Noor Ahmad Islam Jar proposed establishing a joint Afghan-Turkmen trade exhibition in Torghundi, Afghanistan, and Serhetabat, Turkmenistan. He said the initiative would provide an effective platform for expanding bilateral trade, showcasing domestic products, and strengthening economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
The Turkmen representatives welcomed the proposal and said they would raise the matter with the relevant authorities in Turkmenistan to facilitate the exhibition’s implementation.
