Ariana Afghan Airlines has added a chartered Boeing 767-200 aircraft to its fleet, aiming to expand its international operations and increase passenger and cargo capacity.
The aircraft arrived at Kabul International Airport on Sunday and will remain in service under a six-month charter agreement, according to the airline.
Ariana said the wide-body aircraft can accommodate approximately 290 passengers and carry up to 25 metric tons of commercial cargo per flight. The lease follows an agreement reached between Ariana and Jordan Aviation after negotiations led by the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Mullah Bakht Rahman Sharafat.
The aircraft is scheduled to begin regular international operations on Monday, primarily serving the Kabul–Istanbul and Kabul–Jeddah routes.
According to Ariana, the addition of the Boeing 767-200 will increase Afghanistan’s air transport capacity, improve travel options for passengers, and facilitate the movement of commercial cargo.
Sharafat described the arrival of the aircraft as an important step in expanding the country’s aviation network. He said the airline remains committed to improving its services and strengthening operational capacity to better serve passengers and the business community.
