A joint industrial and economic meeting was held between an Afghan delegation and Iranian officials and industrialists in Mashhad, where both sides emphasized increasing daily transport capacity at the Islam Qala-Dogharoun border crossing to 2,400 trucks.

Building on these objectives, Abdul Naser Amin, head of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines and leader of the Afghan delegation, stated that through cooperation with Herat’s local administration, more facilities have been provided for Iranian trucks, and the road pass requirement has been waived.

He added that while around 1,000 trucks currently operate daily on both sides of the border, this figure must rise to 2,400 under prior agreements to resolve bottlenecks in exports, imports, and supplies of industrial raw materials.

During the meeting, both sides also stressed the need to expand industrial and trade cooperation, including the establishment of joint factories.
