Traders in Herat province, Afghanistan, have generously donated 15 million Afghanis (approximately $230,000 USD) as humanitarian aid to support the people of Iran, highlighting Afghanistan-Iran cooperation, regional solidarity, and private sector engagement. Mohammad Younus Qazizadeh, head of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, confirmed that these funds were collected by local traders and the private sector and delivered to the Iranian Consulate in Herat today, Saturday, March 28.
Alireza Marhamati, Iran’s Consul General in Herat, praised the wide participation of various community groups in supporting humanitarian projects, including the reconstruction of schools and healthcare centers in Iran. He emphasized that this initiative reflects the deep bond between the people of Afghanistan and their neighbors.
In parallel with this humanitarian effort, Herat officials announced that, starting today, Iranian transit drivers can enter the Islam Qala border customs area without visas or “road passes” to unload commercial goods. Marhamati noted that this measure not only facilitates trade between the two countries but also strengthens practical economic cooperation in a complex regional context.
These initiatives come at a time when Iran faces regional tensions and conflicts, yet humanitarian and economic collaboration between Afghanistan and Iran continues. The joint efforts send a global message of empathy, trade stability, and regional cooperation, demonstrating that solidarity and mutual support transcend political and geographic challenges.
