Local authorities in Herat say the province has exported its first shipment of natural stone to the United States.

According to a statement issued by the Herat Provincial Governor’s Office, the shipment, valued at $100,000, was exported by Sadaf Sard Company to the U.S.

The statement said the consignment consists of black stone extracted from a mine in Zendah Jan District of Herat Province. The shipment was exported to the U.S. market through the Herat Chamber of Industries.

The Herat Governor’s Office described the export as an important step toward expanding Afghanistan’s mineral exports and strengthening the country’s presence in international markets.
