HERAT, Afghanistan – A research book titled The Herat School and the Indian Literary School, authored by Dr. Mohammad Dawood Monir, a professor at the Faculty of Language and Literature of Herat University, was unveiled on Wednesday during a ceremony attended by cultural figures, poets, writers, and university lecturers at Herat University.
Speaking at the event, Monir said the book is the outcome of four years of research he conducted during his postdoctoral studies at Allameh Tabataba’i University.
He said the book was written with three main objectives: to establish the identity of the Herat School, introduce the prominent and influential poets of the school, and examine the influence of the Herat School on the Indian Literary School.
Salahuddin Jami, head of the Herat Literary Association, described the publication as one of the association’s most important and valuable contributions to literary research.
According to Jami, the Herat Literary Association has published several literary and research works over the past year in cooperation with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
The Herat School and the Indian Literary School consist of five chapters and have been published in an edition of 1,000 copies. Copies of the book were presented to participants at the conclusion of the unveiling ceremony.
