HERAT, Afghanistan — Officials of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment (HCCI) have met with Jeffrey Grieco, President of the Afghanistan–United States Chamber of Commerce (AUSCC), to discuss economic cooperation and opportunities for expanding trade and investment ties between Afghanistan and the United States.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad Younus Qazizada, President of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, along with senior members of the chamber’s leadership, business representatives, and union leaders from Herat.
During the meeting, Qazizada highlighted Herat’s economic potential and outlined the chamber’s efforts to promote trade and investment. He said traders and investors in Herat are ready to enter into major commercial and investment agreements with American companies across various sectors of the economy.
“We are prepared to expand economic engagement and establish large-scale trade and investment partnerships with U.S. businesses,” Qazizada said.
Grieco said his visit to Afghanistan aims to engage with different segments of society, particularly the private sector and economic stakeholders. He noted that the United States is seeking to strengthen economic cooperation with Central Asian countries, including Afghanistan, and is prepared to increase trade and commercial exchanges with Afghan businesses.
“The United States has extensive plans to expand economic cooperation with countries in the region, particularly Afghanistan, and is ready to enhance commercial relations with Afghan traders and investors,” he said.
The two sides also exchanged views on a range of economic issues and explored opportunities for future cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continued dialogue, saying that such engagements could help strengthen economic relations and promote greater trade cooperation between Afghanistan and the United States.
