Traders and industrialists from Herat and Khorasan Razavi held a joint meeting on Thursday, 26 November, at the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment. Noor Ahmad Islamjar, Governor of Herat, and Gholam Hossein Mozaffari, Governor of Khorasan Razavi, attended the meeting.

During the session, six committees covering industry, mining, agriculture, health, transport, education, customs, and related projects presented their plans and reports in connection with the sixth joint economic summit to the governors of both regions.

The Governor of Herat emphasized the need to increase the level of exports and imports between Herat and Khorasan Razavi, highlighting the use of Afghan government facilities to expand trade relations, the greater utilization of the Herat–Khaf railway, and attracting investment in the industrial and agricultural sectors.

The Governor of Khorasan Razavi emphasized Iran’s readiness to remove trade barriers, enhance commercial exchanges, and provide the necessary facilities at Chabahar Port for the transportation of Afghan export goods to regional markets.

The Iranian delegation, on a two-day visit to Herat, toured three factories in the Herat Industrial Park on Thursday, specializing in food products, stone, and beverages. Reza Jamshidi, Deputy for Economic Coordination of Khorasan Razavi Province, told Khat-e-Nakhost that Afghanistan has seen significant growth in its industrial sector in recent years, and discussions between the two sides have been productive for expanding trade.

Abdul Nasser Amin, Head of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines, stated that Afghanistan currently imports extensively from Iran. However, the recent discussions focused on balancing imports and exports between the two countries.

According to the presented statistics, Herat province hosts more than 1,100 industrial factories, and economic experts believe the province can play a key role in developing trade between Iran and Afghanistan.
