Afghanistan’s Abu Muslim Football Club has announced that visa issues affecting some team members have been resolved ahead of their upcoming AFC Challenge League qualifier.
The club said that the lack of visas for several key members had raised concerns over the team’s ability to participate with a full squad in the continental competition.
According to Abu Muslim, the club’s management, led by chairman Gholam Farooq Barakzai, followed up on the issue, with support from Nasir Sedqat, the manager of Afghanistan’s national futsal team. The visa process was completed through the Bhutanese Embassy in Thailand, the club said.
Abu Muslim stated that the visas were secured through the club’s own efforts and financial resources, adding that no other institution or organization was involved in obtaining them.
The Afghan club is set to face Bhutanese side Paro FC on August 11 in the preliminary stage of the AFC Challenge League. The match will be played at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan.
The winner of the match will secure direct qualification for the group stage of the AFC Challenge League.
Several Afghan football clubs, including Sorkhposhan Khafi and Toofan Herat, had earlier expressed support for Abu Muslim after the visa concerns emerged and called for the issue to be resolved ahead of the team’s international fixture.
