A number of Iranian traders and investors have expressed their readiness to invest in Herat province, particularly in the industrial and economic sectors, during a meeting with Herat Governor Noor Ahmad Islam Jar.

According to a statement from the Herat governor’s office, the meeting was held with the participation of members of an Iranian trade delegation. The two sides discussed Herat’s economic potential, investment opportunities and ways to expand trade and economic cooperation.

Dr. Hadi Shahpar, head of the Iranian Council at the Kuala Lumpur International Chamber of Commerce and a trade liaison for Iran and Afghanistan at the Malaysian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, emphasized the development of economic relations and the use of existing capacities to expand trade cooperation.

Masoud Afsharian, market development director of the Iranian Council at the Kuala Lumpur International Chamber of Commerce, and Emad Ebrahimi, a board member of Tivan Holding and secretary of the trade delegation, also discussed potential areas of cooperation and investment opportunities in Herat.

Welcoming the Iranian investors, Herat Governor Noor Ahmad Islam Jar said the province has significant potential in the industrial and agricultural sectors. He said access to water, electricity, gas, land and labor provides suitable conditions for economic activities.

Islam Jar added that the local administration is ready, within its available authority and resources, to facilitate investment, provide necessary support to traders and investors, and back economic and production projects.

He further said that expanded investment could contribute to the development of industry and agriculture, increased production, and the creation of employment opportunities for residents.
