Herat Governor, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Discuss Expanding Trade and Economic Ties

Ghaziz Akbasov, Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, met with Herat Governor Noor Ahmad Islam Jar during a visit to the western Afghan province, where the two sides discussed ways to expand trade and economic relations between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.

According to a statement from the Herat provincial governor’s media office, the meeting focused on strengthening commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Akbasov described Herat as an “economic province of Afghanistan” and emphasized the need to use the province’s existing potential better to promote economic growth and expand trade with Kazakhstan.

Islam Jar, meanwhile, thanked Kazakhstan for its cooperation in expanding trade and transit ties. Highlighting Herat’s economic importance, he stressed the need to strengthen the Torghundi border port to facilitate increased trade between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.

The Herat governor also said the province’s strategic location makes it well positioned for investment, adding that the necessary conditions have been provided for both domestic and foreign investors.
