Security officials in Herat province report that two people were killed and 51 others injured following a traffic accident on the Herat–Kandahar highway.

Sayed Masoud Hosseini, spokesperson for the Herat Police Command, told Khate-Nokhost that the accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. last night (May 7) in the Adraskan district of Herat.

According to him, the crash happened when a 404-type passenger bus veered off the road and overturned due to excessive speed. He added that following the incident, medical and security teams were dispatched to the scene and transferred the injured to medical centers.

Security officials urge drivers to follow traffic regulations and avoid reckless driving and speeding.
Traffic accidents caused by high speed and driver recklessness on the country’s highways, including the Herat–Kandahar route, claim dozens of lives and injure dozens more every year.
