On Friday, May 2nd, at 4:00 PM, a car collided with a motorcycle and plunged into the Band-e-Pashdan dam in Herat.

The car carried eight passengers, all of whom were women. During the crash, two women were thrown out of the car, sustaining injuries but surviving. Tragically, the other six women—including a young child and a 12-year-old girl—drowned in the dam.

On the same day (Friday), the bodies of five victims (along with the car) were recovered by rescue divers. Four days later, the body of the 12-year-old girl was also retrieved from the water.

Many locals blame the motorcyclists for the collision, which led to this heartbreaking accident.

Band-e-Pashdan dam began filling with water about five months ago, but due to negligence and lack of safety measures, at least 10 people have drowned there so far.
