The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) has officially appointed Serbian coach Dejan Vidović as the new head coach of the Afghanistan national futsal team, marking a new chapter for a side that has enjoyed significant progress in recent years.
The announcement was made during a press conference attended by senior officials of the Afghanistan Football Federation, members of the national futsal committee, coaching staff, and sports journalists.
According to the federation, Vidović has signed a two-year contract and will lead the national team at upcoming international competitions, overseeing technical preparations, training programs, and overall team development.
The contract was formally signed by Mohammad Nasir Rahmani, head of Afghanistan’s Futsal Committee.
The appointment comes after a successful period under former head coach Majid Mortezaei, during whose tenure Afghanistan achieved some of the most important milestones in its futsal history, including qualification for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
As part of a broader effort to strengthen the national team’s technical structure, the federation also unveiled several international appointments to the coaching staff:
- Javad Asghari Moghadam (Iran) – Technical Director
- Morteza Mansour Samaei (Iran) – Goalkeeping Coach
- Oriol Masana (Spain) – Assistant Coach
- Sadegh Amani (Iran) – Strength and Conditioning Coach
- João Lira (Brazil) – Performance Analyst
In addition, the Afghanistan Football Federation extended the contract of Mohammad Nasir Sedaqat as manager and supporter of the national futsal team, citing his commitment and contributions to the development of futsal in the country.
The federation expressed confidence that the newly assembled international coaching team will play a key role in advancing Afghanistan’s futsal program and strengthening the country’s position in regional and global competitions.
Afghanistan has emerged as one of the fastest-rising futsal nations in Asia in recent years, with growing international recognition following its performances on the continental stage and its historic qualification for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.
