With increasing participation of women in trade and business in Herat, authorities are working to implement programs to support them. One such initiative is the organization of exhibitions to showcase women’s handicrafts and artistic work.

Hari Bazaar is an art and trade exhibition organized by the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Western Zone, in Herat. Officials recently announced the launch of its third edition.

The third Hari Bazaar exhibition took place at the Allama Salahuddin Saljuqi Hall in Herat city. Bahnaz Saljuqi, head of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Western Zone, told Khate-Nakhost that the exhibition features handicrafts and products made by women entrepreneurs from Herat, Farah, and Badghis provinces.

This six-day event ran until 7 Mizan 1404, with 58 women participating in the first three days and 70 in the last three. Participants emphasized that such opportunities allow them to effectively display and sell their creations, and they called for larger spaces for future exhibitions.

Halima, one of the women entrepreneurs, explained: “I make handmade weaving products, and I have been working in this field for five years. This work allows me to support myself and my family. Earning income gives me a sense of independence, and I can purchase what I like in my life.”

Although opportunities like these exist, women still face limitations compared to men in the trade sector. Experts argue that creating diverse economic opportunities for women is crucial for the overall development of society.
